Opening Doors London is disappointed by the government’s statement on the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) reforms. It doesn’t meaningfully reflect the results of the GRA consultation process and falls short of what is needed to ensure that trans people can fully participate in society without experiencing prejudice and engage on an equal footing with others. It has failed to enshrine the right of trans people to self-determine without the need for the process remaining medicalised and it has failed to allow non-binary people to gain legal recognition of their gender.

Opening Doors London stands in solidarity with trans and non-binary people and are committed to working with and for our trans and non-binary members aged over 50 - many of whom fought for trans rights over the years with some having transitioned in later life - to ensure equality of opportunity to all our services without fear of discrimination or prejudice.
